Try it Tuesday - Fit Organic

I am SUPER excited to be writing about this product today. If you haven't tried it yet, you need to get yourself a bottle (or five) because you will use it on every piece of produce once you start.

Confession time: I used to be a "rinse quickly under the water" type person when it came to washing my produce. I never really thought much about it. Then, in college, I took an environmental studies class that included a segment about agriculture and farming. They talked about everything, from seed to harvesting crops and even animal products.

Needless to say, I found out about the things that are added to products to keep pests away and to keep them from spoiling as quickly, and it's not pretty.

A coworker at the time recommended this produce spray - Fit Organic Fruit and Vegetable Wash. Of course, I was skeptical at first. I thought you just had to buy organic to avoid pesticides, and that's assuming the brands follow every procedure to a tee to be considered totally organic.

But then I decided to buy myself a bottle. And I haven't looked back since!

I was amazed just how much crap (probably literal) came off of my produce. And this could be a placebo effect, but I feel like my produce lasts longer too. But another factor with regard to that could be WHERE I am buying my produce and the time of year.

Take a look at the grapes in these photos...

Most grapes are dusted with a powdery pesticide to keep bugs and other wildlife from eating them before they hit their full growth potential. Those pesticides are not washed off prior to the farms shipping them to grocers. That is the responsibility of the consumer, if they choose to do so. I would highly recommend it. If it's meant to keep pests away, why would you want to put that into your body?

The grapes you see in the photo above were excessively dirty. I could see the dust coming off on my hands. That's why I thought this batch would be the perfect example to show you all how good of a product the Fit Organic Spray really is.

Before you read on, I would just like to mention that we are in no way sponsored to review this product. We just like it A LOT and wanted to share it with you!

The spray comes in this 12 fl oz spray bottle. It's the perfect size to keep on your counter top or under the sink. In stores like Sam's Club or other bulk wholesalers, you can find this along with a refill bottle, packaged together. I think this is the most cost effective option because you will be blowing through it once you start using it.

So I got all my grapes into a bowl, sprayed about 6-7 sprays of Fit Organic onto them, and tossed them around with my hands. I added a little water into the bowl, just enough to get the grapes to float a bit so they were easy to toss. Once I thought they were good and coated I let them sit for about one minute. You can let them sit for longer if you prefer. Then I fill the bowl up further to really shake the grapes around.

That's when I took this photo below. *BARF*

Look at all that freakin' dirt (and who knows what else)!

So I rinsed a second time with just water....no additional spray because I felt like the spray had already pulled everything off of the grapes. I just needed to run fresh water through the bowl until it came out clear.

That's when I took this next photo. Look at the difference! You can actually see the grapes in the bottom of the bowl.

And here is a final photo of the sweet little babies...so fresh and so clean! They even got a little extra shine to them!

If you do decide to buy the Fit Organic, I would LOVE to see some before and after photos of your produce. I find it so satisfying. Is that weird?
